Other Suggestions
- Send a birth/death announcement to tell others what has happened.
- Choose a small place with an informal atmosphere or an outdoor setting to hold the service.
- Delay the service until the mother can attend or hold it in her hospital room.
- Dress the casket as if it were a bassinet.
- Ask someone to take photos, record the service on tape or video for future listening if desired.
- Place items such as pictures of family members or letters from family and friends in the casket.
- Consider releasing balloons with written messages placed inside before inflation; butterflies or doves at the end of the ceremony. (Check state and local regulations on such releases.)
- Hold a candle lighting ceremony at the beginning or the end of the service.
When One Twin Dies
- Consider having the surviving twin baptized at the sibling.s memorial service if possible as a way of celebrating their twinship and as the last event they can be part of together.
