Dearest Heartstrings Family and Supporters,
It is with a heavy heart that the Board of Directors announces the closing of an amazing and impactful organization.
Heartstrings was founded 15 years ago by Tracey Holyfield after the loss of her twin sons, Michael and Zachary. She has provided a safe place for countless families to grieve the loss of their children. Community has grown and friendships have formed. Heartstrings exists outside the boundaries of any physical location or corporate entity. It will carry on in the hearts of the families who have benefited from its services and through their desire to see its outreach continue.
With the closing of Heartstrings, this year’s Walk for Remembrance & Hope will be the last. Please accept this invitation to join us on October 12, 2019 to commemorate the past 15 years of Heartstrings, honoring our children and gathering together as a community. As with every Walk, there will be tears and there will be joy as we recall the special memories made together over the years.
We would also like to invite all local health care providers to attend. The closing of Heartstrings will result in many families going without services that they so urgently need. We are hopeful that other local healthcare providers will step up to fill the void left behind.
Please help us make the 15th Annual Walk for Remembrance & Hope an event that honors not just Tracey's contributions but also the hard work and sacrifices of countless others who have made Heartstrings such a wonderful and impactful organization: the volunteers, support parents, group facilitators, program participants, fundraisers, committee members, board members, and community partners.
The permanent closing of Heartstrings is a very difficult loss for all those who have invested so much time, effort, and love into Heartstrings. It will be especially difficult for Tracey and others who have been associated with Heartstrings since the beginning. Accordingly, the Board is asking the community for a large turnout to support them and to show appreciation for all they have done to ease our grief and leave our lives better off than before they touched them!
With great appreciation and thankfulness for your contribution, we are forever grateful.
Very Truly Yours,
A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER
Dear Heartstrings families and friends,
To those families who participated in Heartstrings over the years, I thank you for entrusting us with the honor and privilege of walking alongside you during the journey of your heart and soul. We learned a great deal from one another.
To those volunteers, staff, board members and donors who gave so much of themselves to this organization, I thank you for your role in supporting the mission and vision of Heartstrings. You selflessly gave of yourselves and, in doing so, laid the foundation that enabled us to be totally present for the families we served.
Reflecting back over the years, I never could have imagined that the death of my sons would provide me with a renewed sense of meaning and purpose and become a catalyst of healing and hope for so many others who also suffered such a loss. I feel deeply blessed and humbled that I had the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing experience. I am forever changed by it. So, while the decision to close Heartstrings weighs heavily on my heart, I also have a peace that surpasses all understanding knowing that Heartstrings touched and changed the lives of so many, including my own.
You will remain forever in my heart and soul,
