Child Loss Support Groups

The death of a precious child is the most difficult loss any family will experience.  While nothing can ever take away the pain, parents who participate in support programs often find that the connection and compassion shared among members with a similar loss helps them in their journey towards healing and hope.

Heartstrings offers a Child Loss Support Group focused on the needs of parents grieving the loss of a child(ren) from 1 to 23 years of age, including all causes of death.  Our support group will provide parents the opportunity to connect with other bereaved parents, gather much needed support, receive specific grief education and share their story of loss, as they honor the memory of their child(ren).

Our Child Loss Support Group will meet in Kernersville.  Each support group consists of eight (8) sessions that meet over a twelve (12) week time period, with a "follow up" session scheduled 4 - 6 weeks after the 8th session.  All support groups are closed to new members after the second session, to allow for significant connection and healing among group members.  Space is limited and pre-registration is required for all support groups.

Unique to Heartstrings, each of our support groups are facilitated by a licensed clinician, professionally trained in grief and loss issues and co-facilitated by a bereaved parent who has been trained in the Heartstrings Method©.

At Heartstrings, we understand that while it takes tremendous strength for parents to reach out for grief support services following the death of a child(ren), attending a support group can help parents realize they are not alone in their grief.

Parents interested in learning more about Heartstrings Child Loss Support Group are invited to complete an on-line registration form. Once received, Heather Burress, BSW, Support Services Manager, will contact you to discuss your needs.

Due to the expanded support services Heartstrings currently provides throughout the Triad, it is necessary for support group participants to contribute a fee of  $15 per group meeting per couple or per parent and support person.  Total cost for two to attend the 9-meeting support group cycle is $135.    The $15 fee applies even if a participant attends without a support person or partner. Heartstrings does not handle insurance billing, but receipts for insurance reimbursement may be requested in order to be filed by the participant.  Scholarships may be requested for parents who are unable to cover the full participant fee.

Once you have registered to attend a group, please make a payment here: Support Group Payment Page
